Do Westland sticky traps eliminate fungus gnats, or just catch them?

The traps catch adult fungus gnats as they fly around and lay eggs in the growing medium. This interrupts their life cycle and gradually reduces the pest population. The trap does not kill larvae in the soil. If the infestation is severe, it is worth combining it with letting the growing medium dry out or using a larvicide.

How many traps should I stick in one pot, and how often should I replace them?

The manufacturer recommends 1–2 traps per pot with a diameter of about 30 cm, and 1–2 traps per m² outdoors. Replace the trap when its surface is covered with insects or the glue loses its stickiness. W As a preventive measure, one trap usually lasts several weeks.

Can I use the traps at home around children and pets?

Yes – the traps contain no insecticides or fragrances. They work solely by mechanical means and are approved for use in organic farming. However, keep them out of children’s reach, as they are not toys. Glue on skin can be removed with olive oil or cosmetic kerosene.
