Small packet, enormous variety. BIO ornamental pumpkin mix is the fastest way to create a spectacular autumn decoration. One packet gives you fruits in various colours and shapes - each one different. The trailing or climbing vines are ideal for covering gazebos, fences and pergolas. After harvesting, the fruits retain their decorative value until spring - you can use them to decorate your home throughout autumn and winter.
A mix of organic ornamental pumpkins - not for eating, but for admiring. The mix is usually multicoloured: round, bottle-shaped, warty and striped fruits in shades of orange, yellow, white and green. Ideal for autumn decorations (Halloween, Thanksgiving and interior decorations). The BIO version means certified organic cultivation.
Sowing (late April, in pots): sow the seeds in 8-10 cm pots. You can also sow them directly into the ground in May.
Planting out / care: plant out the seedlings at a spacing of 1 × 1 m. The vines need supports for climbing (trellis, fence or gazebo), or they can be left as ground cover. Choose a sunny position.
Growth: very fast - it covers a large area over the summer. In summer, it produces spectacular yellow, typically pumpkin-like flowers.
Harvest (September - October): before the first frosts. The skin must be hard. After harvesting, dry the fruits in the sun for 1-2 weeks, then use them as decorations throughout winter.
Purely decorative: autumn arrangements for the home and garden, Halloween decorations, baskets on the veranda, autumn table decorations and gifts made from fruits picked from the garden. It combines beautifully with Yellow Crookneck, Baby Boo, Sultan's Turban and ornamental corn. Outdoors, the vines cover unsightly fences in 2-3 months.
Ornamental pumpkins have highly allergenic pollen - if someone in your household is allergic to ragweed, plant them away from places where they spend time (open terraces and balconies). Bonus: harvested fruits can be coated with a thin layer of wax or clear varnish - this retains moisture in the skin, helping the fruits last longer and preserve their colour.
