Description

Besgrow Orchiata Power 9–12 mm 5 L – New Zealand pine bark for orchids

Orchiata Power is an orchid growing medium made from Pinus radiata pine bark sourced from renewable plantations in New Zealand. The bark undergoes special processing that makes it hard, stable and very slow to decompose – it retains its structure for many years, so orchids need repotting less often due to compacted growing medium.

The Power grade (9–12 mm) consists of medium-sized bark pieces. It is suitable for repotting younger, already rooted plants and orchids in medium-sized pots. The bark is ready to use straight from the package, without prior rinsing.

The slightly rough surface of the pieces helps roots attach, while the spaces between them provide good aeration. The growing medium retains some water and gradually dries out, creating the regular wet–dry cycle that epiphytic orchids need.

Key features

  • Pinus radiata pine bark from renewable plantations in New Zealand
  • Power grade 9–12 mm – medium-sized pieces

  • Slightly acidic pH (approx. 5.5–6.5) and low salinity (EC below 0.3 mS/cm)
  • High air porosity – approx. 49–53%
  • Water retention capacity of approx. 57%

How to use

  1. Remove the orchid from its pot, gently remove the old growing medium and cut off any dry or rotten roots.

  3. Water thoroughly the first time, until water runs out through the holes.
  4. Water again only when the bark has dried out.

Safety and storage

Natural product, not suitable for consumption. Store in a dry place, in a closed package, out of reach of children and pets. Wear gloves when repotting and wash your hands afterwards.
