Universal soil for houseplants that forgives overwatering. BIGOS Soil for Green Houseplants is professional BIOVITA growing medium for potted plant enthusiasts – from common spider plants to ficuses, calatheas and pileas. This light, airy mix with coconut chips, perlite and vermiculite allows excess water to drain away and protects roots from rot, while the fertilizer in the mix feeds plants for the first 4–5 weeks after repotting. The 8 l bag is enough for two to three medium-sized pots.

What makes this product stand out
The most common cause of houseplant death is not drought but overwatering in compacted, peat-based soil. BIGOS has been formulated to prevent this: coconut chips create durable air channels, perlite drains excess water, and vermiculite retains moisture and nutrients exactly where the roots can reach them. The result is a growing medium that lets water drain quickly without drying out completely between waterings.
The formula is universal – a pH of 5.5–6.5 and a loose structure suit the vast majority of green houseplants. The professional fertilizer in the mix meets plants’ nutritional needs for 4–5 weeks after repotting, so there is no need to feed them immediately and no risk of overfertilizing a freshly repotted plant.
How to use it step by step
Preparation: prepare a pot 2–3 cm larger than the current one, with drainage holes; pour a 2–3 cm layer of expanded clay onto the bottom. Mix the soil in the bag with your hands to distribute the perlite and chips evenly, and if it is dry, moisten it slightly.
Planting: remove the plant from its old pot, brush away loose, depleted soil from the outside of the root ball and cut off any rotten, brown roots. Position it so that the top of the root ball is 1–2 cm below the rim of the pot, then fill the sides with BIGOS, pressing gently – do not compact it, so you do not destroy its structure.
Watering: after repotting, water thoroughly until water runs out through the drainage holes, then empty any excess from the saucer. Water again when the top 2–3 cm of soil has dried out – with this growing medium, your finger or a moisture meter is more reliable than a calendar.
Feeding and repotting: do not fertilize during the first 4–5 weeks. Afterwards, from March to September, apply fertilizer for green plants every 2 weeks. Repot fast-growing plants every year and slower-growing plants every 2 years – preferably in early spring.
Use
Growing medium for everyday houseplants: spider plants, ficuses (benjamina, elastica, lyrata), epipremnum and scindapsus, dracaenas, palms, calatheas and marantas, pileas, peperomias, hoyas and sansevierias. It is also suitable for repotting young exotic plants grown from seeds after the seedling stage and as a base for your own mixes – for plants that prefer more aeration (monsteras, philodendrons, hoyas), add extra coconut chips or perlite in a 3:1 ratio; for moisture-loving plants (calatheas, ferns), add a little coconut fiber.
Gardener’s tip
After repotting into fresh BIGOS, place the plant in a bright but not sunny spot for a week and do not water it again until the soil has clearly dried out – roots damaged during repotting absorb less water, while the airy growing medium will still provide them with oxygen. Dropping one or two leaves during this time is a normal reaction to the change, not a signal to water.
