What makes this product stand out

Tomatoes are among the hungriest vegetables in the garden—over the course of the season, they produce several metres of stems, dozens of leaves, and kilograms of fruit. Mineral fertilizers provide a quick boost, but they are also quickly leached out, and overapplication leads to “lush” leaf growth at the expense of fruit. The organic granules release nutrients gradually as microorganisms break them down, keeping the plant evenly nourished from planting through the end of harvest, while the risk of root burn is virtually nonexistent.

The manufacturer recommends it for all soil types, especially light soils low in organic matter—there, the humus supplied with the fertilizer improves soil structure, water retention, and biological activity in the growing medium. The product is 100% ecological, free from chemical additives and pathogens, and may be used in cultivation carried out according to the principles of natural farming.

How to use it step by step

When: the manufacturer allows application from March to the end of September. In practice: apply the first dose when planting out seedlings (May), followed by further applications every 4–6 weeks—in June, when the first flower trusses are forming, and in July/August during peak fruiting.

Rate: you will find the exact rate on the bag label; the approximate practical rate for organic granules is 50–100 g/m² of bed or 20–30 g (approx. a handful) per plant in a 10–20 l pot.

Application: when planting, mix a portion of the granules with the soil in the planting hole or throughout the entire volume of the pot. For top dressing, scatter the fertilizer around the plant, approximately 10 cm away from the stem, and lightly rake it into the top layer of soil or growing medium.

Watering: water thoroughly at the roots after each application—without moisture, the granules will not begin to break down. Water tomatoes regularly and evenly; sudden fluctuations in moisture are the most common cause of fruit cracking and blossom-end rot.

Uses

This fertilizer is intended for tomatoes in all types of cultivation: in beds, polytunnels, greenhouses, and balcony pots. You can also successfully use it for related nightshade vegetables—peppers, aubergines, and chillies—as well as cucumbers and courgettes. It complements nettle fertilizer (for rapid feeding during vigorous growth) and BIO soil for vegetables and tomatoes when planting seedlings grown from mr.seed seeds.

A gardener’s tip

Feed tomatoes “for fruit,” not “for leaves”: their greatest need for nutrients begins when the first truss sets. If you give them too much nitrogen before flowering, the plant will produce an abundance of dark green leaves and fruit reluctantly. Organic granules applied every 4–6 weeks from planting maintain this balance by themselves—just avoid “correcting” them with additional mineral fertilizers.
