What makes this product stand out

Blueberries are exceptionally demanding plants: they need acidic (pH 3.5–4.5), loose, humus-rich soil, while also tolerating mineral fertilizer salts poorly, as high concentrations can burn their shallow, delicate roots. This fertilizer works in exactly the opposite way to “chemicals”—it releases nutrients gradually, in rhythm with the activity of soil microorganisms, so there is no risk of overfertilization, and the plant receives nourishment evenly over many weeks.

The manufacturer points out a second, less obvious effect: the granules enrich the soil with stable organic matter and support the development of microflora that promotes an acidic substrate reaction. In light, sandy soils low in humus—typical of blueberry-growing sites—this makes a real difference to water and nutrient retention. The fertilizer contains no chemical additives or pathogens and is ready to use straight from the bag.

How to use it step by step

When: the fertilization season lasts from March to the end of August. Apply the first dose in early spring, before vegetation begins, the second after flowering (June), and the last no later than the end of August—later nitrogen fertilization can worsen the overwintering of shoots.

Dosage: the manufacturer does not provide an exact dosage on the website, so check the label on the bag. The standard practice for organic granules is approx. 50–100 g/m² (a handful is approx. 30–40 g) or 20–30 g per potted bush; fertilize young plants at the lower rate.

Application: spread the granules evenly around the bush, within the canopy radius, and lightly mix them into the top layer of soil or mulch (blueberries root shallowly—do not dig deeply). When planting, you can also add a portion of fertilizer to the planting hole, mixing it with acidic peat.

Watering: water thoroughly after application—moisture activates the decomposition of the granules and the release of nutrients. Repeat fertilization every 4–6 weeks during the season, and keep the soil constantly slightly moist, preferably under a layer of pine bark or sawdust mulch.

Uses

The fertilizer is primarily intended for highbush blueberries—in the ground, tunnels and plantations—but it also works equally well for cranberries, lingonberries, heathers, heath plants, rhododendrons, azaleas and hydrangeas, anywhere an acidic, humus-rich substrate is important. It combines perfectly with acidic peat and pine bark when preparing a growing site, as well as with blueberry substrate for container cultivation on a balcony or terrace. It can be used in organic cultivation.

Gardener’s tip

Blueberries absorb nitrogen mainly in ammonium form, not nitrate form—which is why organic, slow-decomposing granules suit them better than fast-acting mineral fertilizers. If the leaves still turn yellow between the veins (chlorosis) despite fertilization, the problem is usually not a lack of nutrients but a pH that is too high: check the soil reaction and acidify the soil with sulfur or acidic peat, and the fertilizer will begin to work fully.
