Exotic Plant Seeds

In the exotic plant seeds collection, you will find rare tropical, Mediterranean, and desert species — from the majestic African baobab (Adansonia digitata), through the Australian Kamaldul eucalyptus and kurrajong (Brachychiton discolor), to fruiting tamarillo and collectible cacti from the genus Mammillaria. Each batch of seeds undergoes a germination test with us, and we include a printed sowing instruction with the package. We ship to all European Union countries — usually the same or next business day.

The offer is aimed at collectors, exotic gardening enthusiasts, and people who want to grow plants at home, on a windowsill, balcony, or in a greenhouse that you won’t find in mass retail. Choose a species from the list below, and for detailed sowing and care guides, check the expandable sections under the products.

How to choose exotic plant seeds for your conditions?

A good choice starts with an honest answer to three questions: where the plant will grow, how much time you want to dedicate to it, and what result you expect. A windowsill in an apartment, an unheated greenhouse, a summer terrace, and a heated greenhouse are four different microclimates — each supports a different group of species.

The second filter is germination time and method. Some exotic seeds germinate in 1–3 weeks without any preparation (tamarillo, sensitive mimosa, castor bean, eucalyptus). Others require scarification (mechanical damage to the hard seed coat — typically baobab, delonix, gleditsia) or cold stratification (several weeks in the fridge, typical for some temperate zone trees, less often for exotics). The description of each product includes these requirements — saving you weeks of guessing.

The third dimension is the purpose of cultivation: bonsai, ornamental potted plant, fruit tree, or a collector’s specimen. Baobab and kurrajong are great for bonsai shaping, tamarillo will fruit in a pot after 18–24 months, and cacti from the genus Mammillaria are chosen by patient collectors who enjoy watching slow but impressive growth. If you’re starting with exotics — begin with species that have a short germination time and high tolerance for cultivation errors.

Tropical, Mediterranean, and desert plants — differences in cultivation

The term “exotic plants” covers three very different climate groups, each requiring a different approach.

Tropical species (baobab, tamarillo, Arabica coffee, breadfruit) like warmth year-round, high humidity, and regular watering. In our climate, they do best in container cultivation with the option to move indoors to a warm room during winter. They require a sunny spot and a well-draining but fertile substrate.

Mediterranean and subtropical species (eucalyptus, olive, myrtle, some acacias) tolerate cooler winter temperatures of 5–12 °C, so they can be kept successfully in an unheated greenhouse, a bright stairwell, or a sheltered terrace until the first frosts. They need less water but plenty of light.

Desert species and succulents (cacti Mammillaria, agaves, adenium) require a mineral substrate with added sand or perlite, excellent drainage, and very moderate watering — especially in winter when they enter dormancy. The most common cause of failure for beginners is overwatering, not underwatering.

Browse cactus and succulent seeds, palm seeds if you already know which group you’re looking for.

Where do our seeds come from and why do they germinate?

We collect our seeds directly from trusted suppliers worldwide — seed plantations, botanical gardens, and experienced seed collectors in the species’ countries of origin. Each batch is tested for germination ability on a control sample before being offered, and seeds are stored in conditions that preserve their viability — cool, dry, and away from light.

All seeds in our offer are legal and approved for sale within the European Union and comply with phytosanitary requirements. Each order includes a printed sowing instruction in Polish and access to extended guides on our blog.

Sowing step by step — basics

Most exotic seeds require a simple cycle that is worth performing consciously. First, seed preparation: for species with a hard coat (baobab, delonix, acacias), perform scarification — gently rub with sandpaper or nick the coat. Then soak in lukewarm water for 12–24 hours. Small seeds like eucalyptus or mimosa do not require soaking.

Second, substrate and sowing: use a light, well-draining substrate — preferably a mix of peat with perlite or sand in a 2:1 ratio. Sow at a depth about twice the seed diameter; very small seeds should be left on the surface and only gently pressed down.

Third, germination conditions: most exotics prefer temperatures of 22–28 °C and high humidity. The easiest way to provide this is in a mini greenhouse or by covering the pot with transparent foil with ventilation holes. Keep the substrate moist but never wet — excess water is the most common cause of seed rot.

After germination, gradually acclimate seedlings to lower humidity and brighter conditions. Transplant when the plant has developed 2–4 true leaves.

Frequently asked questions

Are exotic plant seeds legal in Poland and the EU?
Yes. All seeds in our offer are legal, introduced to the market according to European Union regulations and phytosanitary institution guidelines. We cooperate only with suppliers who meet the requirements regarding the origin and quality of seed material. Each order is shipped with documentation compliant with the regulations of the delivery country in the EU.

Which exotic seeds germinate the fastest?
The fastest — within 1–3 weeks after sowing — include tamarillo (tree tomato), sensitive mimosa, castor bean, Kamaldul eucalyptus, and most species from the genus Acacia after scarification. These are good choices for your first cultivation because you will quickly see the results of your work.

How long can exotic seeds be stored?
Most exotic seeds retain high viability for 1–3 years if stored in cool (5–15 °C), dry, and dark conditions — preferably in an airtight container in the fridge. Some tropical species (e.g., Arabica coffee, some palms) lose viability faster and require sowing within a few months of harvest.

Do I need a greenhouse to grow exotics?
Not always. Most species will germinate on a regular windowsill under a mini greenhouse or foil. A greenhouse helps maintain stable temperature and humidity, but for individual potted plants, a warm, bright spot indoors is usually enough. In summer, many subtropical species can be successfully moved to a balcony or terrace.

Do you ship seeds to other EU countries?
Yes, we ship to all European Union countries. The cost and delivery time depend on the destination country, chosen shipping method, and current logistics conditions. Available payment methods — including cash on delivery in selected EU countries — are shown at the checkout stage.

How do your seeds differ from those on popular marketplaces?
Our seeds come from verified suppliers (plantations, botanical gardens, experienced collectors), undergo germination testing, and are stored under controlled conditions. Each order includes a printed sowing instruction, and if you have questions, our team is ready to help. On anonymous marketplaces, it’s hard to verify the origin, age, and storage conditions of seeds — which is crucial for exotics, where viability declines quickly.

  • Nasiona Bambusa Smoczego - Dendrocalamus Asper Nasiona Bambusa Smoczego - Dendrocalamus Asper

Dragon Bamboo Seeds - Dendrocalamus Asper

Dendrocalamus asper - Dragon Bamboo Dendrocalamus asper is among the largest bamboos in the world, representing an impressive group of tropical giant grasses. This Asian species stands out for its monumental size and versatility, making it one of the most valued utility bamboos worldwide. Growth Characteristics and Morphology The shoots of this species, called culms, typically reach a height of 15-20 meters, and under optimal conditions can grow up to 30 meters. The diameter of the culms ranges from 8 to 20 cm, with internode lengths of 40-60 cm. Dendrocalamus asper features dark green culms, while young stems are covered with characteristic velvety hairs in a golden-brown shade. The culms have a thick-walled structure with a very straight growth pattern, with minimal branching limited to the upper parts. This morphological feature significantly facilitates harvesting and subsequent processing of the material. The leaves are lance-shaped and measure 15-30 cm in length, giving the entire plant an elegant, harmonious appearance. Growth Rate and Life Cycle This species exhibits extremely rapid growth—young shoots can grow by as much as 10 cm per day. This trait makes it an excellent choice for applications requiring fast biomass increase. The bamboo grows in dense clumps and does not show invasive spreading tendencies, which greatly simplifies cultivation control. Like other members of the Dendrocalamus genus, flowering is very rare—occurring every several decades. After flowering, the plant usually dies, but in the meantime, it effectively propagates through rhizomes. The rarity of flowering makes the seeds of this variety particularly hard to obtain. Practical and Ornamental Uses Dendrocalamus asper is remarkably versatile. Thick, straight culms are widely used in construction as structural beams, scaffolding, and other structural elements. Thinner parts are used for making furniture, handicrafts, and musical instruments. Young shoots are edible and considered a delicacy in Asian cuisines. Their high quality makes them among the most prized worldwide—in China and Southeast Asia, they are as popular as Moso bamboo shoots. In ornamental use, the species works well as a striking specimen plant in large gardens or as a structural backdrop in plant compositions. The majestic, straight culms and lush foliage create an impressive architectural accent but require substantial growing space. Cultivation Requirements and Frost Resistance The bamboo prefers full sun, though it also tolerates semi-shaded locations well. It requires fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Regular mulching helps maintain optimal moisture levels around the roots. The plant needs regular watering, especially during dry periods, to sustain its vigorous growth. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. During the growing season, it is recommended to use balanced multi-nutrient fertilizers—excessive nitrogen content can weaken the culm structure. Frost tolerance is -5°C, which in cooler parts of Europe necessitates container cultivation with the option to move plants indoors during winter. In warmer southern regions, it can be grown outdoors year-round.

Phoenix theophrasti - Cretan Date Palm Phoenix theophrasti, known as the Cretan date palm, is one of the most unique palm species in the world. This endemic species naturally occurs only in the eastern Mediterranean basin – on the Greek island of Crete, nearby islands, and the southern coast of Turkey. In Turkey, it is the only native palm species, making it particularly valuable from a natural and botanical perspective. Plant Characteristics and Appearance Visually, Phoenix theophrasti resembles the more familiar date palm but stands out with a more compact form and distinctive silvery-gray, stiff leaves ending in spines. The pinnate leaves reach lengths of 2 to 4 meters and consist of numerous stiff, gray-green leaflets. The palm tends to form clustered, slender trunks that can reach up to 15 meters in height in natural conditions, though they usually remain shorter in cultivation. A characteristic feature of this species is the long-lasting retention of dead leaves attached to the trunk for many years, giving the plant a unique, exotic appearance. This trait makes it easy to identify the species even for less experienced observers. Exceptional Cold Hardiness Phoenix theophrasti is considered the most frost-resistant date palm in the world, capable of surviving short-term temperature drops down to -8°C. This exceptional feature makes the species especially interesting for gardeners in cooler parts of Europe, where most palms require winter protection or indoor cultivation. Fruiting and Practical Uses The fruits of Phoenix theophrasti are edible, though much smaller and less tasty than those of the common date palm. They are oval-shaped, about 1.5 cm long, and contain a single large seed. The fruit flesh is thin and fibrous with a slightly sour taste. Local people sometimes consume these fruits, and the leaves of this palm are traditionally used during Palm Sunday celebrations, similar to other Mediterranean countries. Cultivation Requirements In cultivation, Phoenix theophrasti is relatively easy to care for when provided with suitable conditions. It prefers sunny locations and well-draining soil. The species is drought-tolerant but benefits from regular watering during summer, especially when grown in pots. In winter, watering should be reduced to avoid root rot, particularly in cooler European regions. The palm thrives in subtropical and temperate climates but requires protection from prolonged frosts in areas with harsher winters. Its ability to produce numerous offshoots allows it to quickly form dense, attractive clumps. Ecological Importance and Conservation In its natural habitat, Phoenix theophrasti grows on steep limestone cliffs near the sea or in moist valleys, along streams and rocky gorges. Its presence often indicates access to water sources. The species also shows salt tolerance, enabling it to survive in challenging coastal conditions exposed to wind and saltwater. Unfortunately, Phoenix theophrasti is a threatened species due to its limited distribution and pressure from human activities. In its natural habitat, it grows at altitudes reaching 2000 m above sea level, which has given it remarkable resilience to harsh climatic conditions. The main distinguishing feature of this variety is its silvery-blue leaf color, one of the most characteristic traits that set it apart from other dwarf palm varieties. Growth and Appearance Characteristics The Blue Dwarf Palm is characterized by fan-shaped leaves with an intense, powdery blue-silver shade, comparable to the leaf color of Brahea Armata or Bismarckia Nobilis Silver. Unlike the standard Chamaerops humilis, whose leaves are green or slightly silvery underneath, the Cerifera variety displays a more uniformly blue coloration. The plant grows relatively slowly and reaches up to 4 meters in height in temperate climates, maintaining the dense, multi-stemmed habit typical of this species. The growth form of the Cerifera variety differs from other dwarf variants – compared to the Vulcano variety, which is more compact and low-growing, Cerifera produces taller and slimmer trunks. This trait makes it especially attractive as a solitary plant or as part of compositions in larger garden spaces. Climate Resistance Chamaerops Humilis Cerifera shows exceptional resistance to harsh environmental conditions. Due to its origin from dry and cold mountainous areas, it tolerates both high temperatures and drops down to -10°C. In regions with mild winters, it can be grown outdoors year-round. In colder parts of Europe, it is recommended to protect the plant during winter or grow it in a pot that can be moved indoors to a temperature between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius. The leaves are very wind-resistant, making this variety excellent for gardens exposed to strong gusts. This feature, combined with the plant’s overall hardiness, makes the Blue Dwarf Palm a staple choice for fans of frost-hardy palms. Cultivation Requirements Chamaerops Humilis Cerifera is an easy-to-care-for plant, suitable for both beginners and experienced gardeners. It prefers sunny locations, ideally with full-day sun exposure, which provides optimal conditions for developing the characteristic blue leaf color. The plant is drought-tolerant, making it low-maintenance in terms of watering. During the growing season, water regularly but moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. In winter, when the palm enters dormancy, watering should be significantly reduced. Soil and Fertilization The Blue Dwarf Palm prefers very well-draining soils. An optimal mix is a combination of soil, perlite, and sand, which ensures proper drainage and prevents water accumulation around the roots. During the growing season, regular use of balanced NPK fertilizers is recommended to support healthy growth and the development of the variety’s distinctive features. Use in Arrangements Chamaerops Humilis Cerifera is an ideal choice for both gardens and container cultivation. Its unique leaf color adds an exotic touch to any arrangement, and its multi-stemmed form fits well with various styles – from Mediterranean to modern. Compared to the common dwarf palm, the Cerifera variety looks more spectacular thanks to its distinctive blue coloration.

Chilean Wine Palm Seeds - Jubaea Chilensis

Jubaea Chilensis - Chilean Wine Palm Jubaea chilensis is one of the most impressive palm species, characterized by a massive, thick trunk covered with smooth, gray bark that often widens towards the top. It is a single-trunk palm that over the years develops a majestic, cylindrical shape, sometimes reaching a diameter of up to 1.7 meters at its thickest parts. The leaves of this palm are pinnate, dark green, and can grow to an impressive 6 meters in length, although on large specimens they appear somewhat modest compared to the massive trunk, adding a unique charm to the plant. Growth and Development Characteristics The Chilean Wine Palm grows very slowly, which is typical for long-lived palms. It takes many decades to reach its full height, so cultivating it requires considerable patience. Despite this, even young, short specimens make a strong impression thanks to their massive trunk and beautiful pinnate leaves. This remarkable cold tolerance, withstanding temperatures down to -12°C and according to some sources even -16°C, makes it especially suitable for cultivation in cooler regions of Europe. Flowering and Fruiting The Wine Palm is a monoecious species, meaning that both male and female flowers are found on the same individual. Small, purple flowers are gathered in long, branched inflorescences. Over time, they develop into fruits – initially green, then yellow, reaching up to 5 cm in diameter. Inside the fruit is a single seed with a hard shell, known as the "coquito". It is edible and resembles the taste of coconut, making it a valued snack in its natural habitat. Cultivation Requirements Jubaea chilensis prefers sunny locations and grows best in full sun or light partial shade. It requires a highly well-draining substrate – for planting, a mix of soil, perlite, and coconut fiber is recommended. Drainage is crucial because the palm does not tolerate prolonged root waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. It is advisable to add a drainage layer of pebbles, expanded clay, or gravel at the bottom of the planting site. The palm needs regular, moderate watering, especially during the summer. The soil should be kept slightly moist but not overly wet. During periods of active growth, the use of a properly balanced NPK fertilizer is recommended. Container Cultivation An alternative method of cultivation in temperate climates is growing in a pot. This allows the palm to be moved indoors to a cool room for the winter, at a temperature of 2-10°C. At this temperature, the palm enters dormancy and does not require light, and watering should be minimized. The container should have numerous drainage holes to properly remove excess water, and as the palm grows, it is necessary to provide a suitably large pot. Ecological Importance and Conservation In its natural environment, Jubaea chilensis faces threats from animals such as rabbits that eat young seedlings and rodents that prey on seeds. The IUCN has classified this species as endangered, making seed cultivation important for preserving biodiversity. This majestic palm symbolizes longevity and strength, and its presence adds an exotic character to spaces, especially valued in temperate regions where other palms might not survive.

Cultivation Requirements Growing the Madagascar Palm is relatively easy, making it accessible even for beginner growers. The plant requires a well-lit location and moderate watering, especially during the active growth period. In temperate climates, it is best grown indoors or in greenhouses, although it can be placed outside in summer, avoiding direct, intense sunlight that could cause leaf burn. During winter, the plant should be provided with cooler, dry conditions and watering should be significantly reduced to encourage a natural dormancy period. This care cycle supports healthy growth and can contribute to regular flowering when sufficient light is provided. Decorative Uses Due to its unique palm-like appearance and ease of cultivation, Pachypodium Geayi is popular in tropical and dry garden designs as well as an impressive potted plant. Its exotic character and spectacular flowers make it a valued decorative element that adds an unusual, tropical charm to interiors and gardens.

  • Nasiona Pauroty Florydzkiej - Acoelorraphe Wrightii Nasiona Pauroty Florydzkiej - Acoelorraphe Wrightii

Florida Paurotis Seeds - Acoelorraphe Wrightii

Acoelorraphe wrightii – a distinctive palm of wetland areas Acoelorraphe wrightii, known as the Florida Paurotis Palm, is a striking palm native to the swampy regions of Central America, Mexico, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and southern Florida. In its natural habitat, it occupies wet and periodically flooded areas, forming dense clusters that are an important part of local ecosystems. It is one of the recognizable symbols of the wetlands in the southeastern part of North America, and its populations were historically overharvested for ornamental purposes, leading to its protection. This species is distinguished by its distinctive clumping habit and high environmental resilience, making it an interesting landscape palm with a naturalistic character in warmer parts of Europe. Form and morphological features Acoelorraphe wrightii forms dense, triangular clumps composed of several slender trunks. In natural conditions, it usually reaches up to 7 meters in height, rarely up to 9 m. The trunks are thin, reddish-brown, about 10 cm in diameter, and grow from a broad clump base, giving the plant an exotic, multi-stemmed appearance. The leaves are semicircular and grow up to 1–1.2 m long. Their slightly silvery undersides provide a subtle decorative accent, especially noticeable when moved by the wind. Mature specimens produce pea-sized fruits that change color from orange to black as they ripen – one of the species’ identifying features. Over time, the palm produces vigorous suckers, transforming a single plant into a wide, impressive clump with a diameter exceeding 6 meters. This growth habit makes it well suited as a structural plant in larger garden designs. Growth rate and longevity The species grows slowly, especially in Mediterranean climates, where reaching mature height can take many years. However, the slower growth rate contributes to the plant’s longevity and the stability of its form. Under favorable conditions, it eventually forms large, multi-stemmed clusters with a clearly defined structure. Growing conditions in Europe Florida Paurotis Palm thrives best in bright, warm locations. It shows good tolerance to moderate temperature drops, but in most parts of Europe with colder winters, it is not suitable for year-round outdoor cultivation. In such conditions, it is recommended to grow the plant in containers and move it indoors to bright, cool rooms during winter. One of the species’ most distinctive traits is its exceptional tolerance to soil and water conditions. In its natural environment, it grows in swampy areas but also shows significant resistance to periodic drought. Grows well in both clay and sandy soils. Tolerates soils with elevated salinity. Can grow in standing water. In drier climates, it withstands long periods without watering. Despite its high drought tolerance, the plant grows noticeably faster with regular watering during the growing season. Consistent water availability promotes more vigorous leaf growth and faster clump thickening. Care and repotting Caring for Acoelorraphe wrightii is relatively simple. The plant primarily requires regular removal of dry leaves, which can form a dense, untidy layer around the trunks. Regular cleaning improves the clump’s appearance and facilitates air circulation between the stems. When repotting, it is advisable to provide intensive watering during the growth season. Well-rooted specimens tolerate transplanting much better than young plants with less developed root systems. Stable rooting also supports faster recovery after relocation. Uses in landscaping Thanks to its resistance to wind, drought, and varied soil conditions, Acoelorraphe wrightii is one of the most versatile palms suitable for use in warmer European regions. Its multi-stemmed habit and semicircular leaves with silvery undersides give it a naturalistic, slightly wild character. In gardens with mild climates, it can serve as a solitary specimen or provide a backdrop for lower plantings. In container cultivation, it is an interesting feature for terraces and conservatories, where it gradually develops into a dense, multi-stemmed form with a distinct structure. The combination of environmental resilience, longevity, and the ability to form wide clumps makes the Florida Paurotis Palm a valued species both in naturalistic compositions and more formal garden designs where plant durability and stability over time are important.

  • Nasiona Palmy Waszyngtonia Filibusta - Washingtonia Filibusta Nasiona Palmy Waszyngtonia Filibusta - Washingtonia Filibusta

Washingtonia Filibusta Palm Seeds - Washingtonia Filibusta

Washingtonia filibusta - Washingtonia Filibusta Palm Washingtonia filibusta is a fascinating hybrid created by crossing two American palm species. Its natural habitat includes the southwestern regions of the United States and northwestern Mexico, where both parent species thrive in dry, sunny climates. This remarkable hybrid has gained special recognition in somewhat cooler climates, successfully growing in selected locations in the northwestern regions of North America. Growth Characteristics and Appearance The growth rate of this palm is very fast – matching the vigor of W. robusta, which means that under favorable conditions, you can relatively quickly achieve an impressive, exotically looking plant. At the same time, it retains important traits of W. filifera, including a better tolerance to cold, which significantly facilitates its cultivation outside typical Mediterranean zones. This variety does not differ significantly in appearance from the pure species forms, but its increased resistance to climatic conditions makes it a more practical alternative for collectors. Cultivation Requirements and Climate Tolerance Washingtonia filibusta grows best in full sun and well-draining but consistently moist soil. Regular and abundant watering is especially important – this palm is exceptionally water-loving, which sets it apart from many other exotic plants. In temperate climates, it can be grown in containers – outdoors in summer and indoors in cool but well-lit rooms during winter. In the ground, it can only be attempted in the warmest regions of Europe and only with careful winter protection. The plant can tolerate short-term temperature drops down to –10°C, making it one of the more frost-resistant palms available in European cultivation. Care and Fertilization During the growing season, the palm responds well to regular fertilization, which supports its dynamic growth and improves the appearance of its characteristic fan-shaped leaves. A key aspect of care is maintaining consistent soil moisture – unlike many other desert palms, this hybrid requires frequent watering throughout the entire growing season. Use in European Horticulture Compared to other exotic palms, Washingtonia filibusta stands out not only for its rapid growth and beautiful form but also for its greater tolerance to cold and moisture. Thanks to these traits, this hybrid is gaining popularity among collectors and enthusiasts of exotic plants even outside typical Mediterranean zones. A well-chosen location and proper care allow it to reach its full beauty even in less favorable temperate climates. This makes it increasingly common in private winter gardens, conservatories, and tropical plant collections throughout Europe, providing an excellent alternative to more sensitive palm species.
