Besgrow Spagmoss Blended 500 g is a large package of dried sphagnum moss (Sphagnum) harvested on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. After rehydration, the compressed 500 g block yields approximately 40 liters of moss, providing enough for many repottings and mixes.

The Blended version is a mixture of shorter and longer fibers. It is a more versatile Spagmoss grade than Classic: it is easy to separate and combine with bark, perlite or coconut fiber, making it well suited for preparing your own growing media for orchids, cuttings and potted plants.

The moss is a natural and organic product. It absorbs water like a sponge and slowly releases it to plants, while its lightweight, porous structure allows roots free access to air.

Uses

It is recommended primarily as a component of growing media for orchids, carnivorous plants, aroids, ferns and epiphytes, as well as for rooting cuttings.

Directions for use

  1. Place the required amount of dry moss in a container of clean, lukewarm water and leave it until the fibers are completely soaked and softened.
  2. Gently squeeze out excess water – the moss should be moist and springy, not dripping.
  3. Use it on its own as a growing medium or a layer around the roots, or mix it with bark, perlite or another growing medium when you want to increase its absorbency.
  4. During cultivation, keep the moss slightly moist by misting it as it dries; do not allow it to remain permanently waterlogged.

Safety and storage

The moss is a natural product and is not suitable for consumption. Store in a dry place, in a closed package, out of the reach of children and pets. Dry fibers may produce dust – separate them in a well-ventilated place and wash your hands after handling.
