Victoria is the best-known series of this sage: the plants are compact and uniform, do not flop, and produce dozens of upright spikes 15–20 cm long above narrow green leaves. The mixture of blue and white creates a contrast that livens up any flower bed without the need to combine it with additional plants.

In its native Texas, it is a perennial, but in Central Europe it is grown as an annual. It tolerates heat and temporary drought, blooms evenly throughout the summer, and does not require the removal of spent spikes, although doing so encourages even more abundant flowering.

Growing step by step

Sowing (February – March, under cover): sow the seeds in trays or multi-cell trays on the surface of moist, fine-textured growing medium and cover only lightly – they germinate in the light.
