In the Fenix variety, the petal edges are deeply incised and toothed, making each flower look like outstretched wings – hence the name. The colours range from lemon yellow to intense orange, and the flowers rise above the round, shield-shaped leaves, so they do not disappear into the greenery.

The plant is compact and strongly branching: instead of long, trailing stems, it forms dense, spherical clumps 25–30 cm tall.
