In cultivation, it usually reaches 1.5–2.5 m in height and a similar width, while in favorable conditions it can grow to 3–4 m. It is distinguished by abundant, long-lasting flowering - in late summer and autumn, it becomes covered with clusters of intensely yellow flowers when most garden plants have already finished flowering.

Growth and development characteristics

This is a slender, densely branched shrub that becomes spreading with age. The leaves are compound and paripinnate, 5.5–9.5 cm long, usually with 2–3 pairs of narrow, lanceolate leaflets that fold in shade and at night. Young shoots are green, while older ones darken almost to black - hence the Spanish name “rama negra”. The plant grows at a moderate or fast rate and tolerates pruning well.

Flowering and fruiting

The flowers are borne in clusters usually containing 4–15 flowers, concentrated at the tips of the shoots. They have five almost equal, golden-yellow petals and a diameter of about 3 cm. The flowers are pollinated by bumblebees.
