The high proportion of perennial ryegrass (40%) provides fast, even germination and resistance to foot traffic. Italian ryegrass (40% in total) acts as a “starter”: it germinates within a few days and shelters the slower-growing species, while the fescues (20%) gradually fill out the turf with fine, soft leaves and better tolerate drought and partial shade.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe seed material is high quality, and the mixture is highly resistant to mechanical damage and unfavourable weather conditions. As the producer emphasises, this gives it a very wide range of uses.
