The spikes are long and densely covered with flowers, opening gradually from the bottom, so one stem decorates a vase for nearly two weeks.

Like all snapdragons, it is a cool-loving plant – it grows best in spring and early summer, slows down in hot weather and, after being cut back in September, produces a second flush of flowers and tolerates the first frosts. The flowers have a noticeable sweet fragrance and are readily visited by bumblebees, which are the only insects able to open the flower’s closed mouth.

Growing step by step

Sowing (March – April, under cover): sow the very fine seeds on the surface of trays filled with light, sifted growing medium and do not cover them – snapdragons germinate in the light.
